About Mallory

My name is Mallory and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).

I am compassionate, calm, centered, and warm. People find me genuine, sincere and easy to talk to & I’ve always been an intent listener. I am a person-centered and relational therapist, meaning more than anything else I strive to develop and grow the relationship we will form together as therapist and client. I offer you my undivided attention while in the therapy room and intentionally bring my whole self so you feel seen & heard.

I am a trauma-informed therapist and enjoy working with people who are hoping to explore their family or origin & what led them to where they are now. I believe that with understanding and self compassion, we are able to experience our emotions and circumstances differently and live a better life - with therapy, it is possible to learn that it is not about changing or fixing your current circumstances, but more about learning the willingness to embrace the human emotional experience on all levels. We have the ability to be who we want to be when we are able to see ourselves more accurately.  Using a variety of techniques that are evidence-based, you will learn how to express emotions, practice healthy boundaries, and develop better coping strategies.

I am a culturally sensitive clinician with a deep respect for individuals from all different backgrounds, beliefs, value systems, traditions and religions. It is my goal to recognize and affirm the oppressive systems we exist within by using a whole-person-in-environment approach with an equity, diversity and inclusion lens. I am a LGBTQIA+ and spiritual affirming clinician. I enjoy working with client from all walks of life and believe that you are the expert on your own life.

Prior to starting my private practice 7 years ago, I worked as a social worker in various settings for almost two decades, primarily with older adults, people with disabilities & family caregivers. I have worked in medical settings such as nursing facilities, dialysis & primary care clinics, made thousands of home visits over the years to vulnerable adults who reside on their own and need assistance to remain independent, taught educational seminars & facilitated support groups for family caregivers, and have even spent time as an advocate for children in foster care.

I have a BA from the Evergreen State College (2008) and a MSW with a concentration in Multigenerational Work with Elders and their Families from the University of Washington (2013).

When I’m not doing therapy…

I love spending time with family & value having a handful of close friendships that have lasted for the majority of my life. I am a film/tv buff, and lover of trivia. I enjoy trying new restaurants and have an affinity for Italian food and pizza. I am a cat lover - my geriatric cat, Sid, will often be present on my lap for our sessions.

I love living in the PNW as I actually find the cloudy, rainy days calming & love the sound of the rain. I love to travel & explore this beautiful area, I make it a mission to go to at least two new places in the PNW each year.

  • For mental health coverage, therapy must be considered medically necessary. For this qualification to be met, a diagnosis must be on file starting at the first session. You have a right to know and understand your diagnosis. Your diagnosis is part of your permanent medical file with the insurance company and cannot be removed once given.

  • Do I have a deductible for in-network behavioral health benefits? If so, how much?

What is my co-pay per session?

Is there a limit on sessions my plan will cover per year? If yes, how many?

Does my plan require pre-authorization for outpatient behavioral health benefits?

  • If I don’t take your insurance, I can provide you with a “Superbill”. Superbills are essentially receipts for services paid initially out of pocket, which you can submit to your insurance company as a claim.

You may be eligible for reimbursement if you have out of network benefits. Please contact your insurance by calling the number on the back of your card.

Here are some helpful questions to ask them on the phone call:

Do I have “out of network benefits”?

If yes: “What is my deductible?”

What part of that deductible have I met so far (if at all)?

What is my copay on out of network “behavioral health” visits?

How do I submit “Superbills” for reimbursement?

Do you reimburse for therapy with social workers?

  • You will be asked to place a debit or credit card on file for your appointments. You can pay for your therapy with Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

You are not allowed to used these cards for missed appointments, though, so you will need to put a second card on file for these cases.

  • I take debit & credit cards for payment.

Payment is due at the time of service unless special arrangements have been made.

Your card will automatically be charged the evening of your appointment. Never before.

  • You must cancel your appointment 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment.

You will be charged $100 for “no shows” or failure to cancel within the 48-hour time frame.

Missed session fees are not reimbursable by insurance via superbill.

I work with those using their Lyra EAP benefits

Lyra is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that many employers in the Western Washington area contract with to provide mental health therapy to their employees.  Please check with your employer about whether Lyra EAP services are a covered benefit.

Payment with IvyPay

As a payment option for our sessions, you may keep a credit card on file with me via Ivy Pay, a credit card processing service.  The Terms of Use for using Ivy Pay can be found here

Ivy Pay has a few benefits:

  • I am able to charge you for sessions without swiping a card at each appointment

  • The service is secure and compliant with HIPAA standards for client confidentiality

  • Your credit card information is stored with Ivy Pay, not in my files or other records; I do not have access to your stored credit card information

  • You would be able to review past charges and payments in a text message thread

The service works simply:

  • You provide a phone number, which I enter into the provider’s Ivy Pay app along with a charge for the session fee

  • Ivy Pay texts you a secure link leading to a page where you enter your credit card information and approve the first charge

  • After future sessions, I use Ivy Pay to charge the stored card; the app sends you a text informing you that I’ve done so

You will only be asked to enter your credit card information once (unless you need or wish to change the card), and you do not need to download an app or regularly interact with Ivy Pay.

You will continue to have the option to pay via other methods if you’d rather not store a card with Ivy Pay, and can change or remove your credit card at any time.
